Universal Studios Florida

Introduction:

Since its opening on June 7, 1990, Universal Studios Florida invites many visitors by featuring attractions and live shows.

The special effects shown on movies and televisions are also presented and designed to add more thrills during the tour, such as an attack of the big white shark from Jaws movie.

Other popular characters from other studios included in the tour package are Ghostbusters and the Men in Black (from Sony's Columbia Pictures), Jimmy Neutron (from Viacom's Nickelodeon), The Simpsons (20th Century Fox), and Shrek (from DreamWorks Animation, now part of Paramount Pictures).

Places of Interest:


The six theme parks in Universal Studios Florida, which are Production Central, New York, San Francisco/Amity, World Expo, Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone and Hollywood, surround the large lagoon of the home to Universal 360:

A Cinesphere Spectacular, the seasonal fireworks show. Here you can enjoy series of rides, performances, attractions, character appearances, restaurants and souvenir shops.

1. Production Central


Starts from 2003, the main entrance or the Production Central exhibits a package of motion picture soundstages from Shrek 4D where visitors will enjoy the ride between Shrek 1 and 2 in the Blue Man Group Sharp Aquos Theatre.

There is also a meet and greet session with the characters in Shrek at Donkey's Photo Finish. Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast opened in the same year, features a motion simulator ride with the characters of Jimmy Neutron, SpongeBob SquarePants, the Rugrats and the Fairly Oddparents.

There are two additional themes opened in 2009, The Universal Music Plaza Stage and Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit.

The Universal Music Plaza Stage exhibits events of the popular Hollywood Bowl, constructing a stable arena for Mardi Gras, Rock the Universe, Summer Concert Series and Universal Holidays live concerts. Whilst the Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit roller coaster is the challenging ride playing a custom soundtrack.

You are able to record your experience here and instantly upload it to the internet.

The souvenirs shops and restaurants available here are Beverly Hills Boulangerie or Universal Studios' Classic Monsters Café, Universal Studios Store, Studio Sweets, It's a Wrap!, Nick Stuff and Shrek's Ye Olde Souvenir Shoppe.

2. New York


The second park is New York. The setting opened in May 2004 is a resemblance of New York’s past and future, featuring the indoor roller coaster ride of Revenge of the Mummy:

The Ride. And for the outdoor attraction, you will find the special effects for tornado just like the movie Twister.

The Delancey Street Preview Center opened in 2006 displays a gallery of upcoming films or television shows created by Universal Studios.

The merchandise stores and dining outlets available in this area are Sahara Traders, Aftermath, Rosie's Irish Shop, Finnegan's Bar and Grill, and Louie's Italian Restaurant.

3. San Francisco/Amity


Since 1992, this theme park has performed the live show of Beetlejuice's Rock and Roll Graveyard Revue and opened a new show of Disaster!: A Major Motion Picture Ride...Starring You! in January 2008.

The Beetlejuice's Rock and Roll Graveyard Revue displays some characters of Universal's classic monsters, including Frankenstein, Dracula, the Bride of Frankenstein, and Wolfman.

Where in the show of Disaster!: A Major Motion Picture Ride...Starring You!, the guests will experience special effects of Disaster movie made by fictional company Disaster Studios.

The Amity section performs the special effects of Jaws movie. Here, the guests will go aboard Captain Jake's Amity Boat Tours to experience a journey around the Amity island and the thrill of escaping the attack of JAWS.

In this section you will find merchandise stores and dining outlets such as Disaster! Studios Gifts, Richter's Burger Company, Quint's Surf Shack, Fear Factor Gear, Lombard's Landing Seafood Grille , Nathan's Hotdogs and San Francisco Candy Factory.

4. World Expo


The interactive dark ride adventure of Men in Black: Alien Attack and the motion simulator ride of The Simpsons Ride are two attractions available in this site, as well as the International Food and Film Festival dining outlet.

5. Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone


This is the section of junior roller coaster named Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster opened in 1999. Other children’s playgrounds situated in this park are Fievel's Playland, Curious George Goes to Town, and a dark ride of E.T. Adventure.

Three attractions performed several times per day are A Day in the Park with Barney, Animal Actors On Location, StarToons
Summer Jam.

You can also enjoy the food and beverage items from the Kidzone Pizza Company, and purchase souvenirs in The Barney Store, E.T.'s Toy Closet and the Universal Cartoon Store.

6. Hollywood


The Hollywood's greatest monuments, such as Schwab's Drug Store and Mel's Drive-In welcome the guests along with two performances and a walkthrough exhibit of Lucy: A Tribute.

The special effects created in a horror movie perform alive in the stage of Universal's Horror Make-Up Show.

The pre-show galleries display characters in Hellboy II: The Golden Army and materials from Halloween Horror Nights.

Schwab's Pharmacy, Mel's Drive In and Cafe La Bamba are the restaurants available in this site, as well as the merchandise stores of Cyber Image and Theatre Magic.

Shows and Attractions:


- A Day in the Park with Barney: an interactive attraction with Barney and his friends Baby Bop and BJ.

- Terminator 2 3-D: fascinating combination of live action stunts, special effects and amazing 3-D movie production. This 3-D Battle Across Time is a live show combining a 3-D film with on stage performance.

- The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad: outdoor amphitheater show featuring actions of daring stunts and magnificent acts about the story of Sindbad in a rescue attempt to free the beautiful Princess Amoura from the evil witch Miseria.
